Upper Mission Lack of Road Planning

Post by PeeWee1 »

Having experienced the 2003 Forest Fire situation and attempting to evacuate the Upper Mission area only to be be stuck in a traffic jam grid lock situation on Lakeshore Road (with forest fire flames showing in my rear mirror), it is a sad reflection that in 2018 (15 years later) we still experience daily morning traffic gridlock on upper Lakeshore Road.
Over the past 15 years we have seen mega residential construction expansion in the Upper Mission with most homes selling in the million dollar plus price range, which generate huge amounts of property tax revenue ! However the road network in and out of the Upper Mission basically remains the same as it was fifteen years ago.
I suggest to all Upper Mission residents before voting in the upcoming municipal election, that they find out what the various candidates policy and priorities would be (if any) for this serious lack of planning by the previous mayor(s) and city councillors and recommend that a moratorium on any further residential development in the Upper Mission be put in place until either the existing roadway network be upgraded or new access road system be constructed.
