Kelowna Board of Education Trustees
The education of students in School District #23 (Central Okanagan) is of high importance to our community.
Who are you leaning towards and why?
I am voting for Rolli Cacchioni and Peter Pagliocchini so far but undecided on the other 2...
Rolli has much experience as an incumbent/retired school Principal while Peter Pagliocchini is also a retired teacher with a few fresh ideas on how to address several topics of importance to me.

Rolli is great!
I'm leaning towards Joel Fraser (he's passionate about conditions the teachers and kids work in, he has kids
and definitely Joachim Nierfeld (check out his platform).
Also I think I will vote Lee-Ann Tiede again, after talking with her

I haven't failed until I quit.

I was leaning towards both Joachim and Lee-Ann but wasn't overly impressed with either of them when I spoke with them at the all candidates forum in Rutland.
I'm also taking into consideration that Peachland's Moyra Baxter (very well known and long serving Board Member) and Lake Country/Oyama's Deb Butler may lose their seats to 'newbies' so there will be a definite need to ensure the mix between incumbents and 'newbies' is equal or as close as possible...hmmmmm

I was very impressed with how active Julia Fraser has been on the school board for the last 7 years. She has also represented our school district on a number of provincial boards as well. I also like Rolli because of his past experience as a teacher and administrator.

I'm voting for Norah and Julia. Both are amazing people who are focused on the right issues. My vote is also dependant on SOGI 123 and both Norah and Julia are pro SOGI as well as Rolli and Peter. Lee Ann, Terry, and Chelsea are anti SOGI. It's important to me that trustees are advocating and working on behalf of all children and families...not just a select group. I've been attending school board meetings and I'm also impressed with the work that Julia has been doing. Norah is a college professor, has board experience with other organizations, and is active in our community.

Chelsea is against? Thank you, I will be passing that on to friends.
Norah Bowman is not on my list - she told me that we shouldn't worry about basic skills like spelling and math, as "society is moving away from that being important." She did say she was concerned that her students have a remarkable lack of ability, but then kept trying to talk about SOGI 123. One trick horse, not gonna vote for her. Personally I think a Board of Education Trustee ought to actually be concerned with, you know, EDUCATION.

Here are some critical bits about Norah Bowman on RateMyProfessor. Mind you, it is from anonymous sources on the internet, but they are generally in sync with the impression I get from her.
"The most important thing to remember to succeed in Norah's class is to heavily play into the hand of the proletariat. If you learn to write with your emotion claiming to be on the side of the oppressed you'll do fine. Come to class, play the ideological game and you'll get an A. If your an analytical thinker I wouldn't suggest this class. "
"Norah was extremely moody and hard to listen to. She was generally rude, abrupt, and pushy. She yelled at us as if we were children. Norah pushed her own opinions and values instead of using research. Very unprofessional. "
"I can see why Norah is so respected but she wasn't as amazing as I expected. She's very passionate but if you don't agree with her, watch out. It's her way or the highway. She did not always stay on course either: I'd complete the readings only to learn in class that we're behind so we are skipping some chapters (what a waste of my time). "

Also, just a personal preference but a "professor" and "politician" that spends time/money dying her hair bangs a different color... I don't know. Call me traditional/boring but I find it vain and see it as putting time/effort into wrong priorities.
