His comment on the TK fiasco almost makes me think he's a poster here on Cnet.
if that's the case re TK he could have been me (and I'm not a "he") or just about any number of us lol! I was one of the ones yipping pretty good about that debacle - annoys me to no end.....(can you tell?)

That came across as a slight against Schewe - observation only. Trust me, nothing gets my blood pressure up more than that lakeside glass palace.

would appear so.....I'm more familiar with the attitudes of hard work and making ends meet, learning the different between a "want" and a "need" - kind of steady eddy kind of crowds.....I really have only one choice in this

I keep losing posts - I type them and they get lost in cyberspace I guess
maybe it's the universe telling me I talk too much....
Anyhoo, another thought occurred to me regarding Shewe as Mayor.....I think we have been trying to get way too big for our britches way too soon and without proper planning for a long while under the leadership of Basran, Grey before him, and it sounds like Dyas wants to go there too. I know it's the general direction we are heading whether I, or others who think like me, want to but it's happening way, way too fast without any infrastructure in place and to me that is just ludicrous and we will be sorry, sorry, sorry.
If Shewe gets it, I get the feeling he might put the brakes on that if he can to try and get some infrastructure on the table in step with those plans - not just build first, worry about the roads later. If he's in for a term, maybe we can get off the merry-go-round and get some foundations in place for good growth before we sell our soul to every Tom, Dick & Harry developer.

Re: Mayor poll
I must admit that even though I don't support Bobby Kennedy I find him highly entertaining. He's kind of like the joker of the 4 candidates in my opinion. Sometimes I wonder if he's just f*cking around with everyone.
His shop is very interesting. He knowingly illegally sold weed out of his storefront out of "compassion". I think that weed was part of his plan all along. I mean, his storefront, you can't see through the glass and it's got a slogan saying "lifestyle cultivators". BKRY, aka "The Bakery", I mean, is that where things "get baked"? Haha...
Anyways, nothing against weed or the guy. Just wouldn't support someone who knowingly sells weed illegally and then blames everyone but himself when told to stop.
The interviews and Q&As I've seen/heard of him are quite entertaining. Apparently, he thinks weed will solve all the problems. Cheers Bobby!

Re: Mayor poll
here's the link for the list of everyone running for all positions (apologies if this has already been posted)...
https://www.kelowna.ca/city-hall/city-g ... candidates
I have only clicked into one of the candidates' websites so far - Lindsay Bell - to see what platform issues she's running on....
It might be new info or it might already have been stated earlier but it gives us a general idea....

Good thing the Castanet Forum Trolls are only .0235% of Kelowna’s population
Colin Basran will win by a country mile...anything else said here is irrelevant.
The other candidates don’t have the experience or history to have any clue on what it takes to be a mayor... Dyas can’t even put a sentence together and when he does it hardly makes any sense. When he is asked a question, he deflects the question and talks about something random. Schewe might have some decent plans, but I can’t even hear him speak... sounds like a timid mouse. Some public speaking lessons would of gone a long way here. Kennedy, well not much to say here. He seems to take the race as a joke, maybe he is here just to get noticed....
If any past or former council were to run against Basran, they would have a fighting chance.. these clowns do not.

...I can only hope you are incorrect on Colin Basran winning again.....besides this merry little band of what did you call us...oh yea, Forum Trolls, there are a GOOD MANY business owners who are done like dinner with the state of downtown and won't be listening to any more of Basran's plans that seem to go nowhere fast. I will grant you that 2 of the challengers are new to the circus - in a way - but one has been part of some of the show doing Bylaw so does have some knowledge, if not polish, on some of the ins and outs (and the polish of a politician is HIGHLY overrated in my book - I'd much rather have someone with substance than shine). Dyas is just as shiny as Basran so he can promise the moon and I won't be buying it...
That being said - some people are just to afraid to step away from what they are used to. I hope voters are in an adventurous mood come election day - NOTHING will change if WE don't change it!

Re: Mayor poll
In defence of Bobby Kennedy,
Be Kind sold marijuana for several years
As well as many other facilities, up until the city decided to shut them down months before marijuana's legalized. There were many older people going to Be Kind on a daily basis, many young people too. Have you talked to some of the seniors? They’re tired of having to take pills, they’re concerned about the damage to their organs. What type of person allows compassion clubs throughout the city, only to shut them down without any actual plan for the legalization? Sure, we’ve received them now, but it’s a shame that so many seniors have had to go back to their dealers. Bobby provided a service at his own risk, assisting the elderly with providing access to their chosen medication. He broke a bylaw. Many of you break bylaws every day, you’re not innocent.
With legalization coming, and the biodiversity of the Okanagan region making it a prime target for agricultural growth in the marijuana industry, it would be wise for our municipality to take advantage of that potential growth. The amount of money that we will be able to make off of it will significantly increase everyone’s quality of life due to surplus. Believe it or not, but cannabis tourism is already a thing (BC Bud is known internationally, and we have some of the best growers in our region). For us to not take advantage of consumer value of the marijuana industry would be like shooting yourself in the foot. The reason why he stresses the necessity of his Cannabis Tax is because it will not only benefit local entrepreneurs but benefit us all with the ability to afford the services and amenities we want our city to have. Too many candidates focus on downtown Kelowna, forgetting the unique subdivisions we have (The Mission, Glenmore, Rutland). This money would give us the ability to see all areas of our city grow into a place we can be proud of. All of Kelowna deserves to shine, and it takes serious capital to achieve that, without the expense of us paying more taxes to cover the costs.

Re: Mayor poll
I understand your points, however the “old boys club” mentality that is still very much the driving force in Kelowna simply won’t make Kennedy a viable option. My prediction is it’ll be a close race for last between he and Schewe despite my initial hopes that Schewe had a bit more on the ball, but frankly his lack of any charisma will be his downfall. As liberal as people are becoming in regards to the legalization of weed, Kennedy just doesn’t have what it takes to sway the opinion of the masses yet in what is still an overall conservative-minded community. Unfortunately it’s really a two horse race imho and the more Dyas opens his mouth the better he’s making Basran look. Have to give Basran credit in that with his previous experience in office and previous stint in media he comes off well prepared and polished which is what most people want - it’s safe.

Maybe we can keep Basran and some of Bobby's ideas. Why doesn't Bobby run for council first? Or Tom? I mean, surely enough some experience shouldn't hurt?
By the way, isn't this Bobby's third time running for Mayor? How old is he? Was he like 25 when he first ran for Mayor?
