Rose Valley Area

Sounds like forest fire in Rose Valley Dam area, fire department has crews heading to the area. Wildfire has 2 crews heading to the area. Tankers have been requested from forestry and they said they are being sent.

Very sad to hear this. The homes nearest where the fire is reported are really in the forest, too.

I believe most of that area has had fire mitigation done near the homes and in the park

Fire activity is picking up, rank 2 to 3, some candling in trees. They are waiting on Forestry to have the tankers box the fire in.

Sure hope they get it under control. This is the third fire on the westside today.

I live by Rose Valley School. Haven't seen any smoke and went out down by the theater to look back and saw nothing.

Castanet is receiving reports of a fire near Rose Valley and Dougmac Roads.

West Kelowna Fire Chief Jason Brolund said air tankers have dropped fire retardant on the fire that is approximately 800 metres from the nearest road.

“We have multiple crews on scene. The fire is roughly 100 by 200 feet and it is burning rank two or three, so it is nor candeling, but it is starting to climb the trees,” said Brolund.

“The air drops are complete and we are working with BC Wildfire to build a guard around the fire.”

Brolund said there are homes in the area but none are currently being threatened by the flames.

I'm by Friends Pub and I see a slight haze over the area but no substantial smoke. Looks like the wind is carrying it toward the lake.

Without smoke it' hard to get a handle on where the fire is. Anyone have any idea where exactly it is? Lot of wind. Always gets scary knowing there's an active fire behind you somewhere but you don't know where.
