Re: PPC party platform
Meh, I've worked in the energy sector and I never heard anybody diss a little girl the way Max did. And if anyone did then they'd've ended up with a box of welding rods through their rig's windshield while their helpers humped the cables down the line.

Shouldn't blame the kid though.
Blame the adults for giving a 16 yr old a microphone, blame everyone else for tuning in.

This is blaming?

What did he say that offended you ? It all looks pretty civil. Anyone who buys the climate hoax is a little out to lunch i think . Max sees it for what it is. Totaltarian communism forced unto Canadians. This green new deal and leap nonsense is suicide for our nation. Max knows it

No, you don’t have to panic!
Author Marc Morano presents hard-hitting arguments and facts that dispel the artificial fear propagated by “climate emergency” alarmists.

Re: PPC party platform
Yeah, bonus for Max and his immoral followers, but as it is he couldn't keep hands off Greta in an ethical way and it seems some of his followers can't now either, so he's lost my respect and support as a politician--as I 've said above.

Also it's too funny that Max actually believes in climate change--as I've pointed out on another thread (with a reference).

Re: PPC party platform
Max should not have made his attacks against Greta personal; it's one thing to criticize someone's views, but quite another to publicly criticize the person.
But that said, I don't really agree with adults using children to help push their political message. It happens all the time, but it shouldn't. That young lady ought to be hanging out with her friends, and/or getting ready to go back to school, instead of being used by folks to further their own personal agenda.
If it's true that she has emotional problems, then all the more reason not to use her the way certain groups are currently using her. It's not just Max who is abusing this young lady. Lots of people are.

Still no PPC candidate in our riding. But there is someone running for the Rhino party.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out whether I prefer their platform, or the PPC's. Here's theirs, with my thoughts and questions for those who think I should vote PPC:Merry wrote:Now THERE'S a Party I can get behind. LOLrustled wrote:Still no PPC candidate in our riding. If elected, the Rhinoceros Party of Canada has promised to:
- Take Canada off the gold standard, opting instead to use a snow standard to boost the economy [interesting, especially for those of us questioning climate alarmism. Where would Bernier stand on this?]
- Repeal the law of gravity [mixed feelings, but where would Bernier stand on this?]
- Promote higher education by building taller schools [ditto]
- Pave the Bay of Fundy to make more parking for the Maritimes [ditto]
- Count the Thousand Islands to make sure the Americans didn’t steal any [bashing Americans
. If Bernier disagrees, point PPC]
- Change Montreal’s rue Ste-Catherine into the world’s longest bowling alley [can't see the harm. Neutral]
- Ban crappy Canadian winters [We're making progress here, with Canada warming at twice the global rate! If the Liberals borrowed this from the Rhinos, they could claim they're delivering on another promise!]
- Abolish all laws to end crime [just as logical as anything else a politician has promised. Point Rhino]
- Tear down the Rockies so Albertans can see the Pacific sunset [Trudeau: Who? Does Bernier know what/where Alberta is?]
- Abolish lawn mowing in Outremont, Que [
making it nice and quiet for Quebec! Always Quebec! What about the West? Point to PPC.]
- Ban guns and butter—both kill [refuse to give up butter, and Bernier isn't suggesting we ban it. Another point goes to PPC.]
- Reform the retail lottery scheme by replacing cash prizes with Senate appointments [interesting and efficient. Point, Rhino.]
- Forget having two official languages; replace with having two official ears (In French, the same word is used for "language" and for "tongue") [Bernier probably won't go along with this, but it again it makes as much sense as most political promises. Point to Rhino party.]
- Seat the Queen of Canada in Buckingham, Quebec [good for tourism, so keep it in Quebec. Point to Rhino.]
- Privatize the Queen [Point to Rhino]
- Tax the black market [Point to Rhino]
- Nationalize Tim Hortons [you mean it isn't?]
- Move the national capital to Kapuskasing, Ontario [Disagree. It should be here, on that little island in Vaseaux Lake, to prevent government from growing too big. Where does Bernier stand on this?]
So far, it's a wash.
oldtrucker, we await your news...

Merry, I agree with you about Max and when it comes to Max using children . . .. But I think you already know how we have differing opinions when it comes to her parents (as far as I remember anyway--I'll check--nope, not that I can find, so far).Merry wrote:Max should not have made his attacks against Greta personal; it's one thing to criticize someone's views, but quite another to publicly criticize the person.

And as for school, Greta decided to take a gap year, and it seems that this is what having friends means to her--and there's plenty of evidence of her socialising like a sixteen-year-old too.

When haters go after your looks and differences, it means they have nowhere left to go. And then you know you’re winning!
I have Asperger’s syndrome and that means I’m sometimes a bit different from the norm. And - given the right circumstances - being different is a superpower.
I'm not public about my diagnosis to "hide" behind it, but because I know many ignorant people still see it as an "illness", or something negative. And believe me, my diagnosis has limited me before. Before I started school striking I had no energy, no friends and I didn’t speak to anyone. I just sat alone at home, with an eating disorder.
All of that is gone now, since I have found a meaning, in a world that sometimes seems meaningless to so many people.

Re: PPC party platform
And I think it would have been better for the party if Max had stuck to this part of the script.
A People’s Party government will: • Withdraw from the Paris Accord and abandon unrealistic greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. • Stop sending billions of dollars to developing countries to help them reduce their emissions. • Abolish the Liberal government’s carbon tax and leave it to provincial governments to adopt programs to reduce emissions if they want to. • Abolish subsidies for green technology and let private players develop profitable and efficient alternatives. • Invest in mitigation strategies if problems arise as a result of any natural climate change. • Prioritize implementing practical solutions to make Canada’s air, water and soil cleaner, including bringing clean drinking water to remote First Nations communities.
