Interesting side note: Dr. Bonnie Henry was hired by the government of BC under a BC Liberal watch.

There are two standouts for me in the NDP as having done a good job, Adrian Dix (surprised the heck out of me), Carole James and Michelle Mungall. Unfortunately, 2 of those 3 are not running for re-election.

The rest of them? From mediocre at best down to just plain awful.

The credit for BC's good response to Dr. Henry, and some to Dix who has had the good sense to back her.

Lana Popham has been her usual looney self, Claire Travena is an unorganized and unmitigated disaster, Ralston is less than useless, Donaldson (thank goodness he isn't running) was always a complete joke, Eby is beyond redemption, Robinson has successfully annoyed a lot of hardworking families...and so it goes. Plus the NDP bench is really thin.

In terms of leadership during a pandemic, Wilkinson is an MD - so that's a plus. The Liberal bench has a good mix of experience and new voices - so that's a plus.

The biggest plus might be Plecas going away regardless of who wins....

Overall, I think it is a really dumb idea to have an election during a pandemic.
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

I plan to ask for a vote by mail package - soon and mail it in - soon. No standing in line, no worries about physical distancing. No touching surfaces that may be contaminated.

No problem.

You can either phone Elections BC or fill in the online form to get your mail-in voters package. Done ... took all of 2 minutes to fill in the form.

NDP or BC Liberals, either will be fine to continue to lead the greatest province in Canada.

In reference to the BC election poll that is up right now, I checked off undecided.

I dont know what I'm going to do.

The Liberal's past descretions have left me disillusioned with them.
They have got to get rid of Coleman and any other past players that are still stinking up their party.

The NDP, who had a chance for my vote, completely blew it with their racist, sexist, ageist Gender Mandate.

They have to let Nathan Cullen at least be nominated.
Does the Party vote for candidates or appoint them?

The Greens. Won't go there.

Damn, it so pisses me off that we have such ineptness in our political parties.

While I agree that it wasn't really necessary to call it now, I'm not sure waiting till next Oct would be any better. Because, by all accounts, the Pandemic will still be ongoing at that time. So, given that, it doesn't really make much difference whether we go to the polls this October or next.

Regardless, I'll be voting NDP this time around (I held my nose and voted Liberal last time, mainly out of fear that the NDP would be too radical. But under Horgan they've been quite moderate, and they haven't been embroiled in all the scandals the Liberals were famous for).

On balance I think Horgan's NDP has done a fairly good job. Naturally I don't agree with everything they've done, or will do, but on the whole I'm fairly satisfied.

I'm a lot more optimistic than you are about a possible vaccine(s) and I definitely hope and expect that things will be much better a year from now. Setting aside the pandemic, why an election now? Well, we know why. The NDP is riding high in the polls but what about that Confidence and Supply Agreement?

All NDP caucus members and all Green caucus members signed the agreement and yet suddenly it's null and void. Go figure. I found it ironic that Horgan mentioned today how it's always good to listen to the people and yet the people have been saying, "No, we don't want an election right now." I guess he hears what he wants to hear.

Regardless of whether Horgan should or should not have called an early election, I find it amusing and ironic that the people who state they will not vote for the NDP because of this probably would not have voted for them in the first place.

Wouldn't it be prudent to vote once you understand the election platforms of the various parties?

Voting under partisanship lines can only lead to misinformed decisions.

Let's hope those people that were too lazy to vote and gave the NDP that perverse path to ruling, get the *bleep* out and boot the NDP out!

Horgan and the BC NDP broke their promise to the Greens who propped up their minority government not to call an early election. They broke the same promise to British Columbians. BC has the highest per capita rate of covid infection in Canada because of their inept handling of the pandemic. No mask mandate, borders are not really closed. Our top health official Bonnie Henrys main advice seems to be talk softly and be kind. How about using science and best practices of countries that are doing the best to beat Covid. The NDP and Bonnie Henry both need to go.

He's definitely not the most charismatic but these are unique times so he doesn't have to be. Wilkinson is a medical doctor, Rhodes Scholar and a lawyer.

Who do you trust to get the Province back on their feet - the political opportunist in Horgan and party of special interests, or the smartest guy in the room and party of free enterprise?

I think this election goes 1 of 2 ways. The attempted power grab completely backfires on the NDP and they are reduced to their usual place in opposition or they secure a majority and shades of the 90s return which results in them losing official party status in 4 years.

Another NDP bows out. To be fair, this person makes a house plant look intelligent. Why are all the rats leaving the NDP ship right before an election?

Apparently 7 Liberals are also not running again
