I think the fluffy clouds that large fires create can cause lightning. Drip torch can probably explain it way better than me.

I think I see what you are looking at.

These 3 photos were taken about 2-3 minutes apart. I did notice it earlier today, but by the time I got the camera it just looked like these and just wrote it off.
This "cloud/smoke" is drifting North.
I haven't reviewed the photos yet, so you are seeing them first.

There were so more dramatic events that I didn't get, but will watch more closely now.

Here's 3 more hot off the press.
These were taken less than 2 mins. apart to show how fast they change.

The size of the plumes have increased very dramatically since yesterday afternoon.

Same angle, same location.

Hard to tell if that's just regular cumulonimus clouds though

Popups - popping up... some moisture coming, but lightning hits started about 15 mins ago. (much, much further east - so far.)

Coming at us from the south east and they seem to be building fast in that area.

Hey tsayta,

Pyrocumulonimbus cloud formation happens during very large and intense wildfires and often spawns thunderstorms. However what happened in BC last night was not something anyone has ever seen before.

Simply put, it was the convergence of an extreme convective cloud event, caused by the heat dome moving away from the central interior (essentially lifting the lid off of BC and allowing some of the heat to escape into cooler air aloft) and two big intense wildfires creating two massive pyrocumulonimbus clouds that interacted with each other and the third fire further south in Lytton.

It was the type of thing that has meteorologists from all over the world asking "what the heck was that, and how did it happen in British Columbia?"

The Sat footage is amazing and I've watched it dozens of times, frame by frame with every overlay possible.

This was produced by @weatherdak

I don't really see that happening in and around any of the Oyama cluster today, but there is a fairly significant cell that has built over the area. I hinted, on one of these threads, that we would be seeing some extreme convective events at the end of the "uber high" and that appears to be starting now.

The view from GOES 16 @ 7:45 pm (local time). I
