Kind of patchy, that one, but it's not the hot one today. Roger and SW of Judy lakes are the ones kicking up a fuss this in the last 24 hours.

Was at the Stump Lake fire last night near sundown. It had gotten VERY close (couple dozen feet) from a beautiful and massive ranch house overlooking Napier lake. The top of the ridge was heavily stained with fire retardant, and it had rained there pretty good. The fire seemed contained around the perimeter for the most part, but several hot spots still showing in the timelapse video of it:

Interesting BC history. 1940s shingle bolt operation there. Owner named Roger, Judy, and Susan lake after his children. The relics of the operation are still there. Entire cars, trucks, machinery, and the old Apple tree from the homestead. Susan is now a notary in VictoriaDrip_Torch wrote: ↑Jul 7th, 2021, 11:18 pm Kind of patchy, that one, but it's not the hot one today. Take a look at the large smoke pall over central BC and northern Alberta. There's a number of large fires in the northern half of BC visible from the satellite.

With what is now likely thousands of lightning strikes today, watch out for some very stretched resources

Princeton and Merritt has been hammered with lightning strikes the last few hours. This is just the latest in the area, shows the last 1 hour of strikes.

Good a place as any to ask this question, from the article in the news about how many lightening strikes there have been, how are lightening strikes counted?

Some kind of automatic detection network. Southern BC is recording 37 per minute right now

If only 1 per/minute produces a wildfire... this province is in deep

Big stick lake near Kleena Kleene, 250km west of Williams Lake is really starting to get active. Some people I know have been evacuated.
