UPDATE: 8:34 p.m.
The Thomas Creek wildfire just outside Okanagan Falls is now at 500 hectares, BC Wildfire Service reports.
77 properties are under evacuation order and 600 on evacuation alert.
Eight BC Wildfire firefighters and two helicopters, along with multiple pieces of heavy equipment, are responding, alongside local fire departments.

A friend of mine is there with his go-bag ready to run if he has to. No word yet if he is in the evacuated area.
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Many of those under evacuation order in Okanagan Falls are standing by their properties and animals, defying the order and staying in place as the Thomas Creek wildfire rages nearby.
I would as well. :smt045

AT8T's have landed at CYYF to refuel. Now the tankers are heading out. 3 Convairs and at least 1 RJ85 from Kamloops. The second RJ85 is on the way according to flightaware.

At 4:25 the Skimmers back up and the Tankers standing down.

I see that. Fire has contacted some fuel but also there was some chatter of doing some back burns to increase the fire breaks.
maybe that is what we are seeing?
Notice a fire up on the coq area has flared up. Mt. Gottfriedson ? that started the 9th?

The wind shifted and now there is a pyrocumulus cloud.
Impressive sight but what made it is not something I wanted to see.
The 1500ha seems to be off. I expect next update to be much higher.

That was quite the smoke/pyrocumulus cloud earlier. 5000 ha... that is quite a jump. Evidently it is moving east, maybe make hwy 33?

The other fire I mentioned is on Brenda Creek not Gottfriedson, not far from the hwy. Castanet has some notes regarding various fires.

I suspect many that are trying to close home sales and get new insurance in the area will be disappointed when they find out there are an awful lot of fires within 25 kms from the new property. Renewals are fine but a new policy, not. new to us boat does not have insurance for this reason.

So I just finished watching Global Okanagan news. They showed ash on cars and bbq's in Beaverdell. They say that it is 140km away from the fire! I went to google maps and was looking at it going how are they getting that number? :135:
Looks like about 30km. Hmmm? :132:
Then I did a highway drive from Eastside road to Beaverdell using Hwy's 97, 3 and 33. Voila! 140km.
I guess the ash must have used the highways to get there.

Do not believe anything that the :cuss: tell you on the news. They are not the brightest bulbs on the tree. :raspberry:
