Firefighters have been ordered to cut the gate to gain access to the cemetary. Fire is reported as rank 3 with candling.

Dilworth Fire

Post by Fancy »

Emergency crews are headed towards a fire that has broken out on Dilworth Mountain, in Kelowna.

This photo taken by Sterling Makara shows a fire growing on Dilworth Mountain without the lights of Kelowna in the background just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Castanet has a reporter on the way to the scene and will have more in formation as it becomes available.

Cause? Ember from a current fire or human caused?

Bylaws patrolled all around Dilworth and did not see any spot fires.

Could be the same ... directions to cemetery say east of Spall at the base of Dilworth Mountain.
The fire is burning behind the Kelowna Memorial Park cemetery, which RCMP have blocked off.

I am willing to bet $100 that this is yet another fire on Dilworth started by homeless junkies.

Thankfully seems to be under control now. Hopefully they get a handle on the Glenrosa fire.
