Crews on way to a new wildfire start above Traders Cove

Post by ferri »

Is it getting smokey in Kelowna or is it just the way the sun is hitting the cams?

That was just 420 in City Park. :admin:

Blue Grouse should burn every 5 to 15 years, as it's an NDT4 (Natural Disturbance Type 4) ecosystem that relies on fire to keep the forest healthy. We've allowed it to grow in with fire suppression.

Mother Nature is trying her best to get things back to normal up there, but it sounds like this fire won't be growing to any significant size.

It's a good candidate for controlled burns. Should see some more CB's in the next couple of years in this area as a program is starting up with conservationists and First Nations teaming up to reintroduce fire to places like Blue Grouse.
