Good riddance.. Will probably some benefits, the rest of town is tied up all day with traffic jams and the non-Ironman businesses suffer.

Too bad.
So many good memories.
Such great fun cheering the athletes on.
Such a great vibe.
Crybabies be damned.

Good riddance? The tourism dollars from this event help local businesses all over the city. I’m sure the people who actually participate in the life of the city have no problem with the event or a little traffic from out of towners.

Would be nice to see new events in the city. Bring some new life to the tourist industry.
Ironman used to be exciting and fun but its been a nuisance for years. Outlying communities like Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos suffered the inconvenience and gained none of the economic benefit (and I’m not convinced there was much economic benefit for Penticton either).

I loved the early days of Ironman Penticton before it became a commercial international business. Like all things in life they grow until they consume themselves. It was a magical time when it enhanced Penticton. My best memories is watching the dedication of people involved like Steve and Jean King.
