Re: Rob Shaw: BC NDP cabinet will be left hanging as Eby courts Greens
There is absolutely no mention of 'consultations with the people of BC'. In his acceptance speech, Eby boasted about how he heard the concerns of the people and will actively work with the people in the new government.
Now we read about 'mandate letters' that describe what the dictator wants them to do. No consultations, just more knee jerk laws without any considerations to the people of BC especially those outside the NDP lower mainland.
As for Ravi Kahlon's efforts, he sat in Victoria and took a sledge hammer approach to creating very aggressive laws to meet his leader's mandate but never once considered how his laws affect the smaller communities in BC. In my little town north of Vernon, a quiet residential neighbourhood is now selling houses as potential subdivisions. Our infrastructure is already at is limits and high density building will not really aid the housing crisis but it will destroy our small town community and cost all of us a lot of money to improve the capacity of our infrastructure.
As for the Health minister situation, just find someone who can say 'we are working on it' as that is all Dix had to say to keep his bonus salary and cabinet position. What ever was on his mandate letter was a total waste of ink and paper to print it.
At least Eby could pretend to listen to the people and release his aggressive mandates and agenda before he sends them out for his 'loyal boot lickers' to work on. Read the responses and respect what the people have to say. He said he would but that was a week ago.

Mandate letters are not unique to Eby, BC, nor the NDP. All premiers and prime ministers do this, this is nothing new nor special, nor an indication of a "dictator".

I can see how my comment could be interpreted that way but my issue is not with the mandate letters but the fact that there has been no consultation with the people of BC so Eby can properly understand the consequences of his mandates.
In the past four years under the NDP, there have been numerous new laws that popped up out of no where that affects everyone in the province. No considerations were made to evaluate the consequences of the law outside the lower mainland and the island. Once the law comes into effect, their egos come into play and they will not amend the law so it is not hurting other communities or people.
It was Eby who said, I have heard from the people in this election and changes must be made. I am merely suggesting one very simple way to listen to the people before you bring down the sledge hammer on everyone.

The Greens may have two seats but they don't deserve to have Eby's ear. They received only 173,493 votes. The Endp and Conservatives received over 1.8 million between them.

Please show us where any party has consulted before imposing new laws. I can think of many bad decisions made by other parties like liberals and conservatives that were not in the public interest.visimp wrote: ↑Nov 16th, 2024, 11:55 am I can see how my comment could be interpreted that way but my issue is not with the mandate letters but the fact that there has been no consultation with the people of BC so Eby can properly understand the consequences of his mandates.
