There's no silver lining to a low dollar, everything the consumer has to buy from food to energy to clothing all the essentials costs more. So unless you work in one of very few industries like film and tourism you're out of luck

So the silver lining is that foreign real estate speculators can buy already short Canadian housing stock, and then make a fortune when they sell it for higher prices? Holy Christ on a cracker some of these people are out of touch.

Silver lining yeah right! Canadian dollars turning into a peso thanks to Trudeau and his globalist buddies trying to destroy this country! And of course the story comes from the Canadian press which you know where you should know is it just a wing of the American intelligence agency!

Typical self serving comments from Ballingall. It's all about the ski hill and others that are affected by the low dollar and the added expense of purchasing goods ( food) from the States more expensive be damned.

I guess people really don't understand the meaning of silver lining. It's bad, real bad for almost everyone. For some in a very specific circumstance if can be a good thing.

There are no silver linings. The US dollar is the staple in the world and the one most international trade is based on. So anyone who buys in US and sells in Canadian is getting run over. That said, anyone who can survive the weak dollar, will thrive when it improves. I recall in 2007 being in the US for work and the dollar was worth $1.01US, how did that happen and can we get there again?

Thanks Michael J for reminding us how blessed we are that even though many local families can't afford Christmas, groceries, rent, etc. never mind skiing, we can all sleep well knowing that our American friends will keep your ski hill and all of its foreign workers busy. What a lame news story that didn't land well.

Businesses COULD benefit from a lower loonie.
The rest of us will get it right in the neck.
Guaranteed.

here's an idea for the ski hill ,why don't they give out half price season passes to locals who don't make very much, then families, single parents , students, retired folks could go up skiing and use some of the okanagans great resources.Of course proof of income to get the pass, just a thought
