No sense complaining the way the world is growing and people are moving and with all the advertising about how beautiful it is and the weather along with the beaches and all the outdoor activities available within an hours drive who would not want to live here even as people complain about the high cost that will not stop the progress so just enjoy it for as long as you can most of us came from somewhere else

We don’t need 40 storey towers in Peachland as that would be ugly

Yes, most of us came from somewhere else and what I see in the survey results is NIMBYism at its finest (ugliest?). Development and growth is a necessary part of being a healthy community, albeit within a certain pace so as not to create havoc and infrastructure growing pains. The current development rate seems to be well within reasonable levels.

Development rate is not reasonable. It's brought on and mandated by the provincial government due to out-of-control immigration. Communities and neighbourhoods are being destroyed.AltaRed wrote: ↑Nov 23rd, 2024, 2:24 pm Yes, most of us came from somewhere else and what I see in the survey results is NIMBYism at its finest (ugliest?). I agree most of us have moved here from somewhere else and what is called progress most small towns won't have much choice but to grow the major investors with lots of money don't care about our feelings and not wanting to grow they just want more money muck like the Kerr property that got rid of the Nichols mobile home park and many others so quit dreaming and live life to the best

Exactly, it seems that development despite neighbourhood protest is perfectly acceptable . Large development in r2 zoning with less setback and not enough parking .Babba_not_Gump wrote: ↑Nov 23rd, 2024, 3:12 pmDevelopment rate is not reasonable. Easy for you to say when you’re the one benefiting from your move. Those who grow up or have chosen small communities for their families lose everything that makes it special. Development is counter intelligent to everything that creates safe places to live.

''Out of control immigration'', that's a laugh, I don't think too many new Canadians are moving to Peachland.
Sounds a bit racist to me.

Nonsense. A community and neighbourhood is made up of a wide range of social construct, including those less fortunate and/or choose to be in townhouses, townhomes and apartments. Those who think it is all about SFH live in a sterile environment. To be clear, I am fortunate enough to be able to live in a very nice SFH but I would never, ever be opposed to a townhome development going up at the end of the street.Babba_not_Gump wrote: ↑Nov 23rd, 2024, 3:12 pmDevelopment rate is not reasonable.
