So now their own striking members are hurting and whining in the press due to loss of benefits while on strike. If they care so much about their brothers and sisters they will go back to work for them.

There are consequences when these civil unions, high on the ndp/lpc regressive cocktail, dictate to their cult followers to go on strike.
For most "costumers" this is not much of an issue, they already use private services.
The monopoly the postal service had at one time will further erode that position with such actions and is extinguishing their own relevance. However they do impact the less adapted, that they & their top brass suppose to care about. The less adapted will now realize that the postal stage coach speed service is near extinction and they to, have to switch to private competitive services offered in the market place. Private businesses still relying on the postal service will now look for more reliable providers.

Good move on Canada Post. No work; no pay. And that includes benefits.

This strike seems to be quite different than ones in the past. No one seems to care, even the government.

You're driving them to bankruptcy annually and demanding more... $750m annual loss and your demanding increases, it's a middle finger to Canadian tax payers... If course no one cares, the only thing we've lost is junk mail.

Except right now some people have things that they have paid for or items that are irreplaceable (cremated remains) stuck in a warehouse somewhere that is being held until whenever they decide to let it go..they should have been made to clear the mail and parcels, shut down the mail system before they went on strike. It’s not ok that they can hold on to hundreds or thousands of people’s stuff indefinitely.DonnyBratsco wrote: ↑Nov 30th, 2024, 8:25 am You're driving them to bankruptcy annually and demanding more... $750m annual loss and your demanding increases, it's a middle finger to Canadian tax payers... It’s easy to deny violating the Labour Code if you’ve never bothered to read it. Managers at Canada Post couldn’t manage to make themselves a sandwich.

Canada post needs a complete reconstruction. The days of 5 days of mail delivery are over. There is Les and less stuff to mail. 2-3 days per week is enough with further day cuts as snail mail declines even further. Concentrate on what makes money and cut back on what is a losing business plan. The time for bloated government run losing ventures are over.

I am very sorry to hear you are not getting paid with benefits because you listened to CUPW leadership to go for the jugular asking for a compounded wage increase of 24 per cent spread over four years. CUPW has brutally overplayed their hand on the 2024 strike.
Canada Post is essentially bankrupt and has lost more than $3-billion since 2018. It is running out of cash reserves and owes more than $1-billion. Their current business model is unsustainable and now they are grasping at the survival straw and believe they can get into the financial business?
They have no choice but to starve you out, why would they care if they don’t operate for 6 months? They are saving money right now. You may want to seriously consider their offer:
*Annual wage increases amounting to 11.5% over four years (11.97% compounded).
*Protecting the defined benefit pension for current employees, as well as their job security and health benefits.
*Continued wage protection against unforeseen inflation.
*Improved leave entitlements for current employees.
*Transitioning to an hourly rate of pay for RSMC employees.
*Supporting CUPW’s proposal for a future merger of the RSMC and Urban bargaining units.
If not go get a new job now before the ship has completely sunk.

Re: Postal workers union files unfair labour practice complaint over Canada Post layoffs
Canada post is bleeding billions.
Losing market share EVERY quarter.
Yet the union fights for things like door to door delivery vs less labour intensive street boxes that have been going in the west for decades.
They fight for mostly Mon / Friday shifts, that weekends work pay double time or more.
Fights part time labour, fights contractors.
And yet is pushing for guaranteed 72 hour national delivery which would require a 24/7 company.
And when they voted to walk out over two weeks ago screwing Canadian retailers at the busiest time of year that over 40% of rely on to stay open with the vast part of their annual sales between now and Christmas, the union believed the feds and Canada post would Cave to their outlandish demands.
Well, yesterday they were all "temporarily" laid off, because they refuse to work, or negotiate in good faith.
The feds even have a mediator their trying to help.
This layoff action both displays that the post is done with the workers, and might even disable their benefits plans. So no pay, no benefits while they remain out.
They could have kept negotiating in good faith, asked for an arbitrator, done work to rule, not accepting overtime and kept society running, but they are led by typical large union self entitled & greed mentality, getting pay, days off and benefits, pensions that average cdns can only dream of.
Canada post is FAILING & should be fully sold off and privatized. They now move under 25% of the nations parcels. Most mail is flyers no one wants.
Privatize, allow stamp price to double to actually cover cost and stop bleeding billions of tax payer money that we desperately need in critical areas like health care.
