The last paragraph is interesting, i assume its a rhetorical question. There are always alternatives but they cost more so we don’t want to pay for them.
Surprise surprise, our grandparents managed without layers and layers of plastic packaging and they lived quite happily. Things came in wooden boxes, cardboard or tins. We as consumers have to say no to this crap.
