They are only needed if people decide to move there, and if there is no housing available, why would they move there??

All the nice small towns are being overrun with people and overdevelopment. What's wrong with the status quo?

Exactly! If there is no housing available, so be it; people can move to some other town or quit letting so many more immigrants into the country if there is no room at the Inn.

What would you like the government to do to have some control over the real estate price? It's not a surprise or secret at all that the central valley can't keep up with the increasing housing demand.

Open up the zones, reduce the rates, and slow down the immigration for half a decade, we will be back to normal with avg gdp of $130k with a house price being around $800,000.

For the longest time, Peachland has been a relatively affordable area in the valley among Lake Country areas, and few others. Limited developments with underlying accelerated influx created the monstrous market. Open up the greenbelt, and expand the city, invest into infrastructures. If we can't, then do not expand at all and close down the immigration. We do not need to increase numbers when we can't keep up.

Why do local governments continue to give tax payers money to Urban Systems which is basically an agent for developers. Of course they will tell you to build more but you are elected to represent your residents!

Interesting choice of words,,,but you are elected to represent your residents!
Ask these representitives,,,ask your mayor, ask your premier, ask your P.M. Did you take an oath to your canadian citizens? Or did you sign a contract??? ASK THEM !! See what answer you get. You will be shocked.

Nothing is “status quo”….. wherever you live at one point would have also been developed…… see how that works?

Maybe the city planners should stop bottlenecking people with bureaucratic BS and extra fees every time a person tries to built a house
All the fees and permits and don’t forget the GST it’s ridiculous what we put up with

Right near the start of this article, this is a provincially mandated policy.

I.E., you voted this government in, so this what you get. It's happening across the province. The Trudeau government has brought in millions of immigrants, TFWs, foreign students and refugees, they all need homes, and Eby is bowing down to Trudeau.

Trudeau and Eby are destroying our country and the only recourse cities have until common sense prevails, is to stall the bureaucrats in Victoria.

Change is scary for people, best to move somewhere elike beaverdell or Christian valley if you need a safe space away from development.

There is development, and there is out of control multi level construction. Kelowna didnt get the fastest growing city in canada by having normal development. Roads are completely congested, no parking left anywhere, what used to take 12 or 15 minutes to get from mission to Glenmore is now 40 minutes. Tack if you like the big city, move to vancouver.
