No guns are removed though. If I have 10 guns and now I get compensated for one, I take that money and buy the exact same type of gun for less money (because it's not tactical looking).

Well your post tells me you know nothing about firearms, perhaps talk about other hobbies like knitting and Tatting. And far from being "Small Endowed Killers" We put two deer in the freezer this fall for sustenance, we also grow a garden and we can, any other insults you want to hurl in the direction of law abiding gun owners? It doesn't make common sense to me, or many others.
It's going to be another Liberal virtue signalling, multi-billion dollar bungled fiasco.
A person who wants to commit a mass murder does not need one of these prohibited firearms to do so.
There are many, many simpler and more effective means they can employ.
We keep hearing about murders committed with firearms. If firearms are not available, people will simply resort to other means. The bombers at the Boston Marathon used pressure cooker cooking pots to make homemade bombs. They didn't use any type of firearm. So, should we outlaw pressure cookers now??
Firearms are not the problem. Un-enforced laws, catch and release criminals, punishments that do not fit the crime, lack of education and training, lack of screening, and untreated mental health issues are the problem.
When Hitler moved into Austria before World War 2, he convinced the Austrians that it was "common sense" for them to turn in all of their firearms to the Nazis because they didn't need them. Then when he started to persecute them, they had no way to fight back or defend themselves. And we all know how "common sense" worked out on that case don't we?
Or maybe you are not aware of this part of history or similar such cases?
You most likely have never even held a firearm, much less ever fired one.

"The less guns, the better". That's pretty much what Adolf Hitler told the Austrian people after they let him into their country because he told them he could improve their living conditions. He convinced the people to turn in all of their firearms because "the less guns the better" basically. They believed him. And then when the SHEET hit the fan and they were being persecuted, they had no way to fight back or resist.
I'm quite sure Hitler thought it was a good move by his government. I doubt the Austrain people felt the same way.

Vast majority of firearm incidents in Canada are related to gangs, which none of use legal means to obtain their firearms.
Plus if individual/s are truly wanting to obtain a firearm for something nasty, the black market isn’t being stopped by the current federal or provincial governments.
