So this flies with the Ministry of Environment ? I would have thought that the red tape to dredge lake bottom could take years to be approved. Studies, permits, more studies, endangered species etc…I remember hearing that the dredging of the Oyama canal was fraught with government red tape.

That was my first thought as well. Don't they need permission?Tallerinstaller wrote: ↑Dec 11th, 2024, 5:23 pm So this flies with the Ministry of Environment ? Good thing you wrote in to the comments section, I can't image how the environmental division of a municipal government would think of that themselves. We complain about all the red tape and then we complain when there isn't any. Seems like we are desperate for things to complain about.Bsuds wrote: ↑Dec 11th, 2024, 5:43 pmThat was my first thought as well. No one complained. We were asking a question.thekid3_16 wrote: ↑Dec 11th, 2024, 6:00 pmGood thing you wrote in to the comments section, I can't image how the environmental division of a municipal government would think of that themselves. I Thought the Lake came under the federal jurisdiction so they would need permits/permission before they could dredge.
It's a fair question.

I guess you can get dredging work done without going through all the burning hoops if you have enough money. Green Bay is where Richy Rich lives.

Please provide proof that said property owners are footing the bill and not the balance of "non residents " of this area. Have a question ? Why has the debris built up? Too many docks? Encroachment on the shore? Sounds like a they problem not a me problem.

Re: West Kelowna council approves dredging of Green Bay
I note that the article states if cost comes in less than estimate the Green Bay residents would receive a refund, but the article seems to omit any reference if cost exceeds estimate. Certainly hope that rest of community not on the hook for any overun? WK council does not have a good track record bringing projects in within budget.
