Same thing just happened in Port Moody..the classy way would be to not take on new members, and let it die off by attrition. I was a training officer in Lake Country, and can’t count on my hands how many members we trained,so they could move on to paid careers . In my opinion, that reason alone, is why I believe paid on call depts are under appreciated.

The city of Vernon is infamous for disrespecting its volunteer firefighters. Vernon Fire always had a plan to push them out. It began with taking over the Okanagan landing fire department, then making the volunteers train only at predator ridge, to not using them at all. The rumour now is Vernon fire wants to take over BX fire and do the same action as what they did to the Okanagan Landing volunteer firemen. Shame.
