This is such a big mistake, paying athletes to win medals? This is pointing to finding ways to cheat. If athletes cannot win on their own merit, then a win is worthless. This use to be an amateur event which indicates that they are not there for payment but for the sport.
I don't care how much they think of it is rewarding, the athletes should be saying no, that is not why we compete.

What the heck this is amateur sport and these athletes should not be rewarded by a payout, representing Canada and achieving a medal is enough glory why the financial bonuses, absolutely wrong

More spending to make the liberals feel good about themselves. Like the 260 million handed over to FIFA for the privilege of hosting a dozen games in Canada. Totally ridiculous in this fiscal climate.

When did the Olympics (whether regular or disabled) become payment sports - I always thought it was for amateur athletes & they weren’t allowed money - ridiculous! No wonder our country continues to go further in debt!
