Increased DCC charges are directly in conflict with Government's affordable housing initiatives.

And guess who is going to pay this extra cost
The person who is buying the property
The city of Kelowna needs to replace every single person who works in city hall

Greed and ego. Developers aren't satisfied with a 10% or 20% profit. They want more and more. Decreased number of parking stalls costs them $60,000 to the city. They build 4 or 5 more units in that space and sell them for upwards of $700,000 each. They should be paying more towards infrastructure such as roadwork for mitigation of increased traffic, inconveniences to the neighborhoods and upkeep of parks and beaches.
How much sheer profit do you think The Mission Group made in the last few years?

DCC’s pay for services. It’s only right that new home buyers pay this tax. The city and other governments only add about 35% to cost of a new home. No one benefits from these costs except the occupants of the new homes. The city spends all of this 1.3 billion dollars on infrastructure and there is no increase in the bureaucracy as a result. It has no impact on affordability and our perennial councillors would only support things that are in the interests of young people. People need to stop complaining.

What a frikkin joke. So sick of hearing about affordable housing from this lame duck mayor of ours. You call that affordable? What infrastucture? The roads and highways are a joke in this town never mind these useless bike lanes going everywhere that just take away from parking.
This is such *bleep*!!!!!!!

DCC’s. They contribute to the cost of development & add to the cost of building a home - whether it be a single family home or mult- family residence. DCC’s are probably a necessity’ - but only if weke track & make sure tge money is actually going into them.
