Something seems a little fishy here. Ostrom bought the golf course only 3 years ago and now the city has bought it? Isn't there someone related to the Ostrom family working in a management position at city hall? How much did the Ostrom group buy the course for in 2021 and how much did the city (taxpayer) just pay for it?

It would also be a shame to see this course turned into sports fields.

Without commenting on the utility/merit of the purchase, maybe it is time to rescrutinize the recent Truswell purchase alongside Mission Creek. Assessed 1.8 acres with an older, moderate house assessed at 5.6 million and purchased for $18 million versus nearly 53 acres of improved, irrigated golf course with revenue generating restaurant for $8 million. Who is driving this train?

We will no longer be a golf destination mecca with all these courses disappearing in my lifetime.

Brutal, should be kept as a city course. Only way I could afford to golf growing up in Calgary was the city owned facilities. With all the courses disappearing the remaining courses will be right to drive up their prices with the increase in demand.

Since when did the city care about the OCP? They ignore it every time a developer comes knocking.

Why spend millions of dollars constructing playing fields when it is already a natural sports facility.

The city just like spending other people's money

When do tax prayers get a say in what City of Kelowna spends our hard earned money on?? No consultation, hidden agendas? Corrupt and ruining Kelowna for long term residents. Sickening

Is this purchase a deflection by City Staff trying to take Kelowna citizen's attention away from the fact Kelowna Springs Gold Course should never have been rezoned as Industrial in the OCP? How many times have we heard "the OCP is a guide and not set in stone". The fight to keep Kelowna Springs sure feels like it's set in stone!!

Who at city hall was responsible for approving or suggesting that rezoning of Kelowna Springs Golf Course to industrial was appropriate?

Regardless of the city purchasing Michaelbrook, City Staff and Council should not go back on their decision this year to reaffirm that the original zone for Kelowna Springs should stay as Parks and Recreational. Lets not forget the water problems in this area that makes Kelowna Springs an option to benefit not just golfers but also farmers and residents in the area.

If you want people to enjoy activities. Maybe try LOWERING prices and taxes so people can actually afford to further put their kids in sports/activities.
What a waste! People should be leaving and abandoning this crap hole.
Kelowna USED to be such a great little town.

Speaking out of both sides of their mouths these folks, by letting a developer buy Kelowna Springs. I guess you folks can rationalize anything eh.
