1) everywhere / every business has breakdowns and shortages.
2) then do not utilize it
Happy for those who like it!

$6 for unlimited coffee and tea is worth the entry price alone.
Hopefully it'll be enough of a discouragement to keep the majority of passengers out so one can have a little less hustle and bustle of crowds.

Whereas I will gladly pay 6 bucks for a seat in a quieter more relaxed setting. I have reason to travel to the island a several times a year for family and every time I get on one of those boats I find myself shaking my head in disbelief at how so many parents lack any skills at all over managing their children. The Ferries at times become an absolute free for all for children that their parents think are now at some kind of Provincial Park.....the kids can't go anywhere.....so let them run amok. BTW, I am qualified with four of my own.
So Ya, for 6 bucks entry fee, I am in, for every trip. I usually buy a coffee for three bucks when I board, so if I just grab a second one while disembarking for the road........I just covered the entrance fee and won't be tripped by rug rats without parents doing timed laps around the circumference of the upper decks....... and hopefully had a more peaceful ride.

Privatization at it's CORE as Public funds will continue to subsidize this Realm when a Bridge could have been built. Welcome to Canada!!:)

While the BC Crown being the largest shareholder, BC Ferries is a privately held company that is an essential part of the BC Highway system for an area where it is not feasible to construct a bridge, despite the naivety of those who strangely insist it can.

More pricing for the Haves that exclude the Have Nots. Are the Have-nots allowed to bring their own food?
It's double-dipping. I won't be surprised if they start charging for washroom use.
They learn from the school boards that dropped a bomb on parents with 'School busing is no longer free - there is a new fee of $450.00 per child. How did they get away with it? Same way the Ferries are, by lambasting the poor Millenial and Gen Z generations.
Who was it said 'Remove one freedom every generation and soon there will be no freedoms and no one will notice.'? new what they were saying.

Re: B.C. Ferries set to open new restaurant with $6 entry fee on Spirit-class vessels
Nothing to do with "haves" and "have nots" as the entry fee includes unlimited soft drinks gratis. So, it's a question of "Am I going to spend the $6 here or spend the $6 there?"
First sentence, sixth paragraph, had you actually read the article.
It would be nice if it were more exclusive though, it'll probably end up with the same riff raff as airport lounges that let anyone in with a Walmart Capital One credit card.

I wouldn't dream of going, but it's pretty poor on the part of the government, and yes, BCF is overseen by the government.FreqFlyer wrote: ↑Jan 20th, 2025, 6:40 pmThen don't go in. I agree . I always do bring my own stuff to eat and drink on the 1 hour and 40 minute float across the straits..
My problem is that fares to use the service , which is an extension of the highway, is what subsidises the buffet , coffee shop and restaurant .. There's no need for it .
Compare BS Ferries to the Black Balls The Coho between Port Angeles and Victoria and it won't take anyone 2 seconds to see how the Coho has been operating privately for as long as I can remember and beyond .
