Amazing how council may not be listening to all the unfortunate run ins with off leash areas. There are so many dogs who are not under control, aggressive etc that the people affected are not heard. Council only wants to hear the positive, not the negative. Sad. So many of us can't even walk our dogs because of the off leash areas. A vote is useless, council does what they want anyways.

I agree with all your comments. Council either isn't paying attention or else Animal Control and Bylaw are blind! Okanagan Lake Park (un-fenced; between the Lakeside Hotel and the Art Gallery) is being used daily by a LOT of un-leashed dogs/owners. This is not part of the present plans for off-leash parks; only the fenced off area by the water. What is it going to take to get someone to do something! :swear:

Okanagan Lake Park was part of the pilot project but is not included as a further recommendation, since it is "heavily utilized by park users" and hosts numerous events throughout the year, resulting in significant strain on the turf.

This is laughable. Its almost impossible to actually walk your well trained dog on a leash anywhere in town without having another off leash dog running around them or towards them. I would be curious to know how many bylaw tickets have been given out for problems relating to dog control. I would guess next to Zero, because there is zero enforcement to begin with! So with that said, the brain trust on main street seems to think all is well. Lets spend more money. Brilliant.

I am so glad that I am not in Penticton for the winter. I am somewhere where people are super chill about dogs being off leash, people are allowed to "have fun" and there is no "fun Police" around. Penticton People need to get a grip!!

What is wrong with having rules for dogs and owners re dog parks; off-leash, etc? Its people who ignore the rules that ruin it for everyone. Rules are there to protect people and dogs; not to ruin anyone's fun. Its not Rocket Science!

when my leashed dog gets irritated by your unleashed one and tears a strip off yours when it gets too close...too bad so sad.
