Watching our elected leaders dance like puppets to the whim of the US really shows how powerless our Country is. Why aren't we building pipelines east and west to get our product to the world markets? Why do we continue to be dependent on the US? We should be self sustainable so that it doesn't matter who is in office in the US. Canada will not survive if we continue to do nothing.

Strange comment. I 100% support a swift and equal response to any tariffs that threaten Canada's economy and well-being. We need to prepare for the next time Trump threatens his closest ally and trading partner in a social media post, I might add.

You're right many many people hate the orange dictator wannabe down South, and his recent antics just brought us Canadians closer together. The world has also responded all over the net with words of support against the bully, Trump. The amount of people who have cancelled trips and decided to stop buying US-made products has also been heartening. We won't be heading South, that's for sure!

The tariffs were not going to cost us more money. It was going to cost the Americans more money to buy our products. But our dollar is so weak to theirs that they could probably afford to pay a bit more anyways. In the long run it may have hurt us but there is an entire world out there as our market. Trumps whole idea was to get Americans to buy products made in the USA. Now Eby and others want us to buy more Canadian products so we too can support our own manufacturers. Sounds like a win win situation all around. We should be thanking Trump for waking us all up. This whole reaction from Canadian politicians and others is rather ridiculous. Some people want any excuse to bash Trump.
