Wind "farms" are a blight on our landscapes........among other things. Bad for the environment. Don't last. So stupid to be littering our land with all this. And they kill too many birds. Just overall NFG.

You lost me on burning coal . . . really? You use science all the time but you don't believe in it???

A blight? We clear cut our mountains and you call turbines a blight? As far as killing birds go, shiny glass buildings and cats kill billions of birds a year. Wind turbines kill much much much fewer.

Yes, the wind doesn't always blow. That's what batteries are for. The rivers don't always flow either. We have to make the call on fossil fuels. Either we believe the science and scientists or we believe Trumpies. Our kids will pay the price.

Nuclear. Seems any juridiction that has gone to windy and solar have ended up with higher electrical costs, not less. Demark around 60 cents kwh - windy, Norway cheapest- hydro, second cheapest France-nuclear.
Our hydro is best, second is nuclear.

Ironic that Barry Penner, a paid lobbyist for the oil and gas industry under the disguise of an energy institute that is itself completely silent on its funding, is concerned about transparency. It undermines any credible concerns he may have identified. He’s not interested in a robust and diverse energy landscape as the institute moniker might suggest, his goal is to simply extend the reach and lifespan of the oil and gas sold by those who pay his salary.

Nuclear does sound like a good option. Perhaps a blend of all can also help the cause too

BC would not have a shortage of electrical power generation if the NDP and the Greens did not setup so many roadblocks for, for hydro power generation, gas fired generation and wood waste (waste products) power generation.

Yes, clearcuts are ugly, and so are fields of wind turbines. And yes, glass buildings also kill birds. So what? Is your point that as long as there are other things that are worse we should allow anything to be done? Whataboutism is not much of an argument.

Oil, gas and nuclear advocates crying a river for birds? Funny. Ironic. Transparent pandering. Fossil fuel caused climate change is killing birds, mammals, sea life AND plant life thanks to lost habitat and ocean acidification. No concerns about that? And nuclear? Not thousands of years to store the waste — 100’s of thousands. Perfect.

Spent fuel can be reprocessed the amount of waste post reprocessing is a small fraction and is much less radioactive. Or we could employe a breeder reactor that results in about 1/60th the amount of waste as a typical Thermal reactor.
