More *bleep* poor excuses by the RCMP at the risk of the publics safety. As always someone is off duty so it cant be handled until they get back. Imagine if business's handled situations this way ? Just transfer the files whether urgent or not and get the job done . Sheer laziness and government control is all I'm reading. Get it together it's embarrassing. Good for this lawyer for stepping up and calling these guys out so they had to respond. Well done.
PS Bylaw has control over the encampment not RCMP. They know each and everyone there. The smart thing to do is to buddy up with them .The bylaw officers in Kelowna are very helpfull. They have a great team led by a great leader Ken Hunter who are aware of all the goings on and willing to help within their parameters and go the extra mile when needed.

The RCMP lose all credibility when they pretend that the rail trail is being policed appropriately.

LOL the lead investigator was on days off......this is one of the games they like to play to delay you, anytime you want something from a cop they vanish and become impossible to track down. Besides the cops are to busy jacking up real citizens to worry about the scum that lives tent st.

I was thinking the RCMP were waiting for the Helicopter ($1000) per hour + to become available to look for the s***heads. I hope the Mayor is reading these comments. I s the new officer in charge ready to retire or will he get a promotion, then retire??

Every item stolen, is a new one sold. Profit for the stock market. Now you know why its allowed to continue like this.

This was not a great reply at all.

Also, I hope Tessmer’s rant caught the Law Society’s attention. He was grossly inaccurate throughout the article. He called the police as a “friend”of the owner of stolen goods?…. no he called the police as a lawyer (although clearly without a client) hoping that dropping his name would make a difference. There would have been privacy implications had the police called him back. He is a nobody in this case

More BS from the RCMP. These people have secure jobs no matter how bad they perform. Imagine any company delaying a decision or project because the lead man is away and the backup is no where to be found. Someone would be getting the sack immediately. Instead they will ask the City of Kelowna for more money to pay for more officers to occupy the offices for those 'away' from their high paid jobs. Don't expect them to be out on the streets.... it is too dangerous.

Instead the RCMP get promoted to the level of their incompetence as we all know the leaders in Ottawa think all their members are perfect angels. Don't forget they can do something wrong and stay on the payroll for years while its investigated. Once that is done they get a cushy appointment to a small town like Armstrong to lick their wounds and wait for a healthy retirement.

Perhaps they should stake out the lawyers and judges to see what they are up to and who is visiting with briefcases full of something. Where is the political party that will finally put an end to this totally incompetent justice system? It is time for those braking the laws to be taken out of society so the rest of us can live in a safe community.

Haha give your head a shake. Tessmer called RCMP as a friend. RCMP had zero obligations to call him back. Tessmer is a nobody in this case.

Thanks to this lawyer for highlighting a problem many of us have had experience with. Residents of tent city are fully aware they are most unlikely to be reprimanded in any way, and they brag about it - even when caught in the middle of a theft. We have been personally witness to that 'attitude' for at least the last few years. Tent city residents enter private properties to steal - and when caught and confronted - any defensive action the property owner takes- could lead to the owner being charged by the perpetrator if the confrontation leads to a physical interaction in an effort to stop or catch the offender. A sad but true fact. The legal system is completely lop sided, perhaps creating an apathetic attitude for enforcers. Either way, hard working tax payers of Kelowna are not getting the protection or respect they deserve. And they (we) are the ones paying to accommodate tent city dwellers in all aspects. That is truly 'criminal'.

Stanley Tessmer has no one to blame but himself and others like him for the polices and courts inability to do anything about these criminal lowlife drug dealing thieving scumbags. Had the police gone in there and retrieved the stolen items Stanley would have been the first to sue the police for charter violations and harassment of the poor unhoused person.
