Saving a buck can put you in danger. Most fliers have no idea that to much weight in the over head bins is a dangerous thing on a plane. Checked baggage is like ballast in a Boat.

I don't fly anymore especially to any place the U.S. owns. No worries here about costs.

"align with industry practices"

It's called price fixing, that's why there's no real competition in Canada

We travel carry-on exclusive, but our preferred fares are usually above the lowest, so carry-on is gratis with our ticket.

Even a personal item, if you pack it right, can easily take care of your for a weeks holiday.

We don't fly Air Transat. Been aboard two of their aircraft. One of their A330s and one of their L1011s. Those L1011s had the worst seating configuration I've ever been on, my goodness. It's a shame that they retired their A310s in 2020 though. I would have endured them to get to fly on one last A310.

It's not price fixing, it's just creating an extra source of revenue and is standard practice around the world and has been for a good 25 years now. It's not exclusive to Canada.
