Where was all the outrage when Biden nearly doubled the tariffs on softwood lumber just months ago?

Re: Canada's business groups call for government action against steel, aluminum tariffs
Why encourage counter tariffs and make everything more expensive for Canadians. Trump wants steel and aluminum to be manufactured in his own country and employ his own citizens and why not. We should be selling our steel and aluminum to Canadians. Not sure why this is such an issue. Common sense imo. I don't need another tax / tariff on anything we import as Trudeau and Liberals have made Canada one of the highest taxed countries in the world. Maybe start by incentivizing businesses to come to Canada and lowering the corporate tax rate and other taxes.

Of course the business group wants the government to act. Why deal with a problem, when you can get the government to do it. Besides, like 'saboom1' said, counter tariffs will make things more expensive for Canadians.

"we should be selling our aluminum and steel to Canadians"
A nice idea but we haven't the capacity in Canada to absorb much more into the domestic market given the fall in industrial productivity here. Our mills thrive on exporting.

Could you explain how it would be better?SAILINGONE wrote: ↑Feb 11th, 2025, 9:27 amThat is much better than the Globalist WEF new world order, revolutionary chaos, to force Canada and the free western world to bow out the "Fourth Reich" regime, where you own nothing, including freedom.

Freedom, Right to own property, earned paychecks & profits, not adding another level, to 4 levels of governance with the WEF fourth Reich regime and only the two natural genders.woodchuck wrote: ↑Feb 11th, 2025, 10:47 amCould you explain how it would be better?SAILINGONE wrote: ↑Feb 11th, 2025, 9:27 am

All Canada must do to maintain sovereignty, is pay its share of the cost to protect our joint borders, continent and NATO commitments.

Corporate taxes have been on a steady decline for the last few decades. In the 1950’s 50% of federal taxes collected were from businesses, it’s now below 10%. That is one of the reasons why the middle class pays so much tax.saboom01 wrote: ↑Feb 11th, 2025, 7:43 am Why encourage counter tariffs and make everything more expensive for Canadians. Many are concerned that is what is happening in the USA under Trump.
Looks like you have it quite mixed up.
