Tragic. Not sure that there isn't a lot more to this than what the story offers. Police didn't likely just decide to shoot him without some sort of provocation.
If he had a gun, well, autistic or not you're likely gonna get shot if you don't cooperate.
If he truly was incapable of understanding what the police were instructing him to do, you can't blame the police for protecting themselves. They wouldn't have know he was autistic.
In the end, this is yet another tragic incident no matter what the details.

That's right, jump on the bash the police bandwagon.
They are not the ones at fault here. Our healthcare system failed this child, not the police.
All these people that constantly bash the police. Police are people, and occasionally there are bad ones, but most of them, THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE TIME, are out there doing an essentially thankless job. It's easy when it's not you in that situation, and picking it apart AFTER the fact.
I'll guarantee you 99% of these police bashing yahoos would be behaving a lot worse in a similar situation.
Does your job come with a risk that you won't be going home tonight to your family?
Yeah...I didn't think so.
Put the blame where it belongs- on the province for not having the proper resources to ensure that this situation would never have happened in the first place.
