I'll never understand why people spend money on a plot or columbarium just to have a few family members come "visit" you once or twice a year for a few years until they just don't find the time anymore. Save the money, have your ashes disposed of and leave the money for who's left behind or donate it.

The greed continues, but now they want to empty your pockets even when you die,
It’s long overdue to get rid of people like this working for us in cities

So the people getting paid for providing these services should be paid next to nothing?Noshortageofdrivers wrote: ↑Feb 12th, 2025, 8:15 am The greed continues, but now they want to empty your pockets even when you die,

This is another good reason for everyone to get cremated, or donate their body to universities.

When you hold a MONOPOLY the sky is not even their LIMIT!!:) Realistically, being a living being who has gone to the other side the SYSTEM that we all created should have the DINITY and MORALS to pay for the right of passage to the OTHER SIDE!!:)

Yeah, medical universities. As a cadaver. Most organs aren't viable after just a few hours after death, so organ harvesting concerns are zero.

I predict that no matter the price, people will still be dying to get in!

OPINION:
A 2 tier system again. Are the council % crazy? "25%, 30%, 45% 75% increases of OUR money!
De Jong said "He also reminded council the increase proposed will not affect taxes." I think I heard that before, and the entire costs were born by the taxpayers. Where does De jong think the costs at the Cemetery won't affect taxes. Hogwash. What were the promises made that something won't cost the tax payers any money, A new water treatment plant that right after a pomp and circumstance grande opening announcement, the horrendous over-cost (over budget by a humongous amount) needs more tax money to upgrade the joint. It just opened!!!
And the new City Hall. Just opened and needs upgrades already.
Why was a lease arranged with Westbank First Nation on a small chunk of land that council had no immediate use for and wasted $10, - $15k (hard to tell right now which is which - working on it.)
The very embarrassed taxpayers learned from national news MS fact that council slept while a sidewalk was created putting telephone poles in the middle of the sidewalk - and past councilor Bryden Winsby said council didn't know about it. What!
Um, I think it's time to stop believing in tooth fairies, elves, and this council and re-write West Kelowna infrastructure priorities... and elect, not re-elect, professionals.
Council, PLEASE stop the gobbledygook and attempts to befuddle taxpayers. The Westside's taxpayers are catching on to the the schemes. Robbing Peter to pay Paul, and borderline ponzi taxations only works for several years in a municipality then the poor management rears it's ugly head and we see and are, saddled with double-digit tax percent increases.
IMO - update your CV.
One system of religious and customary burial for the Haves.
One of cremation - keep the remains at home for the Have-Nots
This council is in a spend-more rut, and it's coming out of our income.
Sheesh!
