That's an easy one.
Tariffs are an instant source of income and take months to see as inflationary.
Trump needs to raise revenues, in order to give massive tax cuts to his wealthy donors and friends, and once inflation has it's teeth into the US economy then there will be some other war to occupy the headlines.

American's are all in on tariffs because a majority are too stupid to understand that the tariff comes out of their pocket directly.

My favorite is the one calling Eby an 'ultra left wing socialist', which if they actually knew what an ultra left wing socialist was, they wouldn't be calling him that. Dude is not even left of center. Just left of the people who identify as the single-dimensional 'right wing'.
