Certainly is a beautiful dog. And obviously cared for in the extreme. Ironically, it is the extreme care that kind of bothers me.
It wasn't long ago that the "elites" embraced dog shows as a measure of their own status amongst estate owners. That would be the Lords and Ladies....Dukes and Duchesses......blah blah. It was just a keeping up with the "Jones'" kind of thing that rich people could do.
And then they made a business and industry out of it........dog breeding. And believe it or not, there was a time where your social stature point card included the purity and quality of the breed you showed.
Sad that the wealthy turned the simple pleasure of a dog happy to see you and licking your face in an uncontrollable fit of happiness, the simple pleasure of unconditional love, or the unbelievable bravery a 10 lb Mutt will display when it puts itself between you and the Cougar you walked into on the trail.............. into a measure of social status.
In case you haven't realized it at this point....I hate dog shows. I think they exist not to preserve gene lineage but rather just for bragging rights of the pompous and increase in breeding fee's with blue ribbons. Sure these dogs are pampered at this level. But just imagine all the breeding that went into making one "World Champ".......and then imagine the life in a breeding kennel for the 99% that have a flaw as slight as twelve white hairs on the edge of one ear.
