Never ceases to amaze me how a little snow at Canada's airports cause so much havoc. After all we live in a winter climate, winter comes every year, we have weather forecasts yet the airports do not plan for these events in enough detail to minimize the havoc. The root of all evil air travel in western Canada begins in Calgary.

@ moeyou, This article is referring to issues in Ontario and Quebec causing a trickle down effect. The issue is not in the west....

Just had flight delays this past week caused by snow and de icing delays in Calgary making flights late . It’s inevitable for winter travel .

Delays are inevitable in winter due to de-icing requirements. Nothing new. It's Canada.

They do plan. But there is only so much you can do and only so much equipment and man power can keep up with. Delays are inevitable.

Hmmmm, sounds more like you have a beef with a specific airline than actually understanding how weather events can and do effect air travel.

Runway alone is roughly 18 hectares in size of snow removal, this doesn’t include taxi ways & lane or the area around the gates.
