Trump is going to do what he’s going to do, since he’s has said they don’t need our natural resources or electricity (hence US doesn’t need anything Canada has to provide).
Find new buyers elsewhere and sell our electricity eastward.

If he finds out they do need our products, to bad so sad. We found new buyers elsewhere.

geographically it makes sense to get it from Canada

if someone wants to charge their own people 25% more, for no reason, let them
it's a dumb idea
don't do something stupid in return

Close the border to the USA, shut off the water and electricity going down there as well! That should teach Trump a lesson.......

Nailed it.

The 'upside' is that maybe now they'll stop using covid as an excuse for things.

Have you ever heard the saying "don't show up to a gun fight with a knife"? It would serve you well to study that sentence and more importantly, understand it.

Why are you saying this trash? You know it not true and as well being over simplified. Supply chains and logistics cannot be changed in a day, a week, or even years in some cases. This isn't an eff you if you don't like my lemonade cuz I will just sell it somewhere else. Until you realize Canada does not grow Lemons and you just *bleep* off the largest supplier of your Lemons.
Oh BTW, in case you forgot.....selling electricity east sounds good except for the simple fact you would be competing with the huge amounts of Hydro Electricity Quebec and Manitoba produce. And Quebec has made it abundantly clear that they will oppose Canadian oil being pipelined to the east coast with their last dying breath. Quebec is such a great partner to Canadian interests aren't they?? Tongue firmly planted in cheek.

So what do you suggest Canada do with our natural resources that US says it doesn’t need. btw there are other countries that produce lemons and other fruits and vegetables.

What a useless post! You post a cryptic suggestion that Trump and Vance "defined" themselves at this conference yet you provide no editorial, no link, and quite frankly, no thought or editorial in the post you made. You are playing baiting games. Make a point that can be responded to or discussed or just remain a reader.

Well Mike.......have you ever heard of Southern Yellow Pine? How abundant it is in the US Appalachian region? And what a wonderful building framing timber it makes as well. Y'all best pay attention here.

That , RIGHT there is it .. They need what we have and we have lots of it , just like the rest of the world has .

He's going to cut his own throat , so let him do that . What we need is a proper gov't to make sure he can't raid us like a swarm of locusts ... Eby is weak , Trudeau can`t be gone soon enough and Singh is only in it for his Gucci and Maserati ....

I don't like replying to "challenged" posters but I can't let this one pass.....

1) Close the Border to the USA
-Brilliant idea. Why did no one think of this obvious solution before? You do realize it is February here right? So if you want to close the border with the USA........where will we get our food from?
2) Shut off the water going to the USA
- Just exactly what water do you propose we shut off? Are you speaking about drinking water in pipelines? Are you talking about control of rivers, dams, and spawning flows for fish that navigate International waters? I don't think you thought this out very well.
3) Shut off electricity going to USA.
-So you would rather see the water spill over the dam rather than generate power with it and sell it. Brilliant business plan you have.
And you are still allowed to vote. But boy oh boy.......did you ever teach Trump a lesson!

It was a simple post and if you don't understand it and just want to yell, stomp you feet because you don't get the context, that's on you. Nothing cryptic about it as you can watch vance's speech easily, but it you need it spoon fed, it is another massive shift in the US position, sliding over to Putins team more than the traditional allies of Europe, Canada and the rest of the western world...
