That is exactly what the buffoon in charge down in the US wants, tariff us and get our business to move south to his country. Traitors.... No one needs candy.

Would be nice to have a few facts in this otherwise useless article. What brands? What type of candy? Where is it made? I can't think of anything made here that sells there unless it's maybe high end chocolate. There used to be a big "Nutty Club" candy plant in Winnipeg but the nutty club team is in Ottawa now.Our Cheezies are probably safe though. Much healthier than the sweet stuff!

Not really. The salty stuff is made with seed oils which are very toxic to the body.Lumby Glen wrote: ↑Feb 17th, 2025, 9:53 am Would be nice to have a few facts in this otherwise useless article. Yes..it's all Donald trumps fault. and not the NDP?Liberals who have been running this government for 9 years and have completely destroyed the country with drugs and terrible economic policies...remember.."the budget will balance itself"? stop watching cbc. The liberals want to put MORE carbon taxes onto us...and on top of the tariffs this country will be ruined. Give your head s shake, go to you tube and find some independent media.

Seems kind of strange that there would be an issue in regards to sugar, being that BC Sugar doesn't get its sugar cane/beets from the US. I know in the 70's they used to get the sugar cane from Australia. And, I was just reading that there are now sugar beet farms in Taber, Alberta. If any one should worry about it, it would be the US being the H&R sugar used to be packaged at Rogers, along with several other sugar companies. I toured Rogers refinery in the late 70's and saw the packaging, we also view videos of the ships being loaded and unloaded from Australia. So, unless the US has taken over the Alberta Sugar beet farms then this issue should be moot.

Canada is NOT destroyed and frankly, repeating the Cons tired narrative of Canada is broken is getting old and sounds exactly like the Trump narrative. Having the Maple MAGAs repeating it ad nauseum does not make it true. And the rest of us are tired of MAGA propaganda.sherwoody wrote: ↑Feb 17th, 2025, 10:39 amYes..it's all Donald trumps fault. and not the NDP?Liberals who have been running this government for 9 years and have completely destroyed the country with drugs and terrible economic policies...remember.."the budget will balance itself"? stop watching cbc. Canada is doing pretty well comparatively. Is everything perfect, no, but Canada IS NOT broken.
Carbon taxes do cost Canadian households between $377-$911/ year or around $75/month on the high side, but it is unlikely that the carbon tax will continue after the new election. And seriously, candy or carbon tax, is hardly the issue now. What is at stake is our sovereignty. What is at stake is protection of our natural resources. What is at stake is our right to body autonomy, our right to vote, our right to worker safety, employment standards and unions. What is at stake are protections for POC and disabled and women and LGBTQ2S persons. What is at stake is our healthcare and social programs. What is at stake is free education for our children. What is at stake is our society with a significantly lower murder rate, significantly lower sexual assault rate and significantly lower violent crime rate. What is at stake is our higher standard of living and longer lifespans and safe water, food and air.
So take your tired Trump / Musk / Maple MAGA seditious propaganda and stick it. True Canadians are standing together against the US threat. We are proud Canadians and we are rejecting those that would sell us out to the US.

Maybe it is Rockets or Kerrs candy. Both of these have significant exports. But I fail to see why they would be using US sugar.Lumby Glen wrote: ↑Feb 17th, 2025, 9:53 am Would be nice to have a few facts in this otherwise useless article. What brands? What type of candy? Still stuck on the drug thing, eh? I am willing to bet my bottom dollar that there are equal amounts of drugs coming north from south of the common border. But do not think this is what Thump is hinging his tariffs on. That's a ruse.sherwoody wrote: ↑Feb 17th, 2025, 10:39 amYes..it's all Donald trumps fault. and not the NDP?Liberals who have been running this government for 9 years and have completely destroyed the country with drugs and terrible economic policies...remember.."the budget will balance itself"? stop watching cbc.
