Unfortunately this kind of thing seems to be the standard defense these days. Using a disparaging or culturally inappropriate term in proceedings like this is certainly an issue, however the idea that someone accused of improper or unlawful activity should be found innocent because "yah but look what the other side said!" is not justice. If it is found that the accused did, in fact, commit the discreditable conduct they are accused of, they should be held accountable for that, and the board member who wrote the disparaging comment should be held accountable separately.

Dismissal sound a little on the excessive side, retaining or taking some courses and some pay loss would be more appropriate. The money spent on training these officers should not be wasted it they can be retrained.

Any connection to large scale RCMP intimate group chats in Victoria BC at the Empress Hotel?
Their top cop just ran for the door, its 3 floors down...

Exactly. What they did deserves some discipline, dismissal is far too severe for what they did. The officers also deserve an unbiased panel. The one they are facing needs to be replaced.

So these 3 members were using disparaging remarks about others in their private little group chat but when it comes to them being "disparaged", suddenly its an issue???? Get rid of these hypocrites.

I think that would all depend on what was said those group chats because it must have been serious enough to get to this point.
