So their plan is, if tariffs come in and make things more expensive, the geniuses at our central bank will respond by *checks notes* piling on and making things even more expensive, to push us into more unemployment, and reduce our already eroded buying power? If there was ever a case for pointing out that people with economics degrees are about as useful as newspapers in a windstorm...

So the inflation when up 0.1%,,,from last month of 1.8% . If we were to remember years back when everything was normal, compared to now, inflation was a steady 3% for years. That was never a problem for the country. Always remember the past.

Remember now folks.
If inflation goes down, it's due to the wonderful benevolence of our dear leader, the current (outgoing) PM.
In inflation goes up, it's due to lingering effects from covid, supply issues, Trump.....and probably Stephen Harper.
I think that's how it works.

That's the plan... and it's on purpose. How else are they going to bring in UBI and social credit scores. Once no one can afford to eat, the government will step in to "help". And regardless of what happens, they'll blame Trump... and the trained seals in Canada will wave their flags and clap and cheer for it.Terraniel wrote: ↑Feb 18th, 2025, 7:37 am So their plan is, if tariffs come in and make things more expensive, the geniuses at our central bank will respond by *checks notes* piling on and making things even more expensive, to push us into more unemployment, and reduce our already eroded buying power? What a load of codswallop. The Pierre Poilievre fans continue to show they have nothing useful to offer.BigTun wrote: ↑Feb 18th, 2025, 9:04 amThat's the plan... and it's on purpose. If you bothered to look at the actual plans by the federal government you will see a different picture altogether. The counter tariff plan to put pressure on the administration of the orange ape and predatorsident Musk is targeted tariffs against "red" state products that will put pressure on the Republicans. Things like Florida orange juice, Kentucky Bourbon. Most of the list they have developed we can either get from another country - like Mexico, Chile, South Africa, Australia - or substitute Canadian products (like apple juice for orange juice).
You are correct that things like automobiles that use steel and aluminum will jump in price - not because of any action by Canada, but because the doofus Trump and his cabal are raising costs for GM, Ford and the other manufacturers with there stoopid and unjustified tariffs.
No matter, trying to blame any of the upcoming supply disruptions on Canadian governments and Canadian agencies is pure unadulterated garbage.
You will be closer to the truth if we in Canada make the mistake of electing the fool mini Trump Poilievre because the fool Poilievre wants to go *bleep* for tat with tariffs on everything from the USA. Typical unthinking nonsense from Poilievre and his wannabe Republican party and MPs.
Don't make that mistake - anybody but the mini trump Poilievre!
