Net Zero was an unrealistic goal anyway. Just like the EV mandate by 2035, we are so far short of enough power and materials to even have that many EVs by then.

Apparently there are a significant number of disused and abandoned oil and gas well heads that have not been decommissioned properly and leak natural gas into the atmosphere. The oil and gas industry should be made to clean up the mess they have already created before give the green light to create more havoc. “Fast tracking”, good for company profits, bad for taxpayers that clean up the mess.

Isn't it amazing that our left wing government suddenly realizes they must approve something they've been dead against the whole time, and only to maintain their power and pay cheques??

You have to blame the government just as much or more than the producers. If the government had made and ENFORCED intelligent rules there never would have been a problem. I always look at the government when there's a screwup, they're the ones in charge, so in my opinion they let it or caused it to happen. No one else.drifter53 wrote: ↑Feb 19th, 2025, 9:04 am Apparently there are a significant number of disused and abandoned oil and gas well heads that have not been decommissioned properly and leak natural gas into the atmosphere. Indeed. Always the government’s fault. If your neighbour shoots their spouse it’s the government’s fault. If a speeding truck kills others, it’s the government’s fault. If a drunk driver kills, it’s the government’s fault. If a workplace accident kills a worker, it’s the government’s fault. If an oil company refuses to cap a well, it’s the government’s fault. If a mining company goes bankrupt with the profits and leaves the tailings for the taxpayers to clean up, it’s the government’s fault. If there’s no personal responsibility required the government is going to hire a lot of enforcers. Are you up for that? And higher taxes? Can’t have it both ways.

It is more than amazing....it's stunning. Our problem is the unfortunate reality that our elections are decided by the lower Fraser Valley and even more by the densely populated high rise dwellers. These people horribly skew our elections. And when they have to pay 3000 for a studio suite for rent so that K dinner is the go to.......it is no wonder losers like Eby get a two seat win.
I am not yet convinced that this project fast track is even real and how what was impossible to get past First Nations (and other objectors) is suddenly a fast track reality. Something smells bad here.
Who has the authority? Elected chiefs or Hereditary Chiefs? And have we yet decided which Chief we are negotiating with? I would think that after a 100 or more yrs of dance, our partners would have been sorted out by now. But every time we think we have a deal........drums show up on a bridge somewhere claiming rights being usurped. I am just so sick of all of this.
I have lost all faith in our Govt as well as having lost all faith in First Nation Governing bodies. I am getting to the point where I am thinking that many, not all, First Nations have gotten used to the Federal Funds for treaty negotiations to the point that this funding is a normal line item for income on their financials and they would have to lay off half the reserve if we were not still arguing over land rights..

just perhaps the BC government realizes how stifling UNDRIP is for the benefit of ALL BC residents and went back to the olden days of consult and accommodate ( best you can), leaving out the consent.
Hope it's somewhere down in the bowels of the nickel mines back east. BC and Canada will always have emissions from diesel or gas. For some time to come anyway.
