Finally. Excluding states because of who they elected makes no sense.. rural California where the vineyards and wineries are voted for Trump. Block it all.

Re: "He says legislation will also be coming within days to allow the province to levy fees against U.S. commercial trucks traveling from Washington state to Alaska, as promised last week."
This is a non starter. All that will happen is that U.S. carriers will clear a trailer destined for Alaska into Canada, and a Canadian carrier will take it from the border and into Alaska. Or, a Canadian carrier will pick the load up in Washington State and take it as far as mile 1202 of the Alaska Hwy to the Canada Border Services Agency - Beaver Creek Port of Entry, Yukon. From there, a U.S. carrier will transit the trailer into Alaska. Did that in 1982

Did it ever occur to you that they don't actually believe he's a '*silly insult*', and are just using it as a derogatory term?Tack wrote: ↑Mar 10th, 2025, 11:47 amkonstantineb wrote: ↑Mar 10th, 2025, 11:23 am *silly insult* does what *silly insult* does - stealing elections, telling you how to live your life.these same tired talking points that are just not accurate are so sad. Inflammatory words that are false are indeed fake news and rediculous.
I have no idea what you're talking about on the second half, did you publish some sort of book that's being quoted? Weird comment and off topic.

Odly, if the feds intend to tarrif (=tax) us and the province decides not outlaw (why?) then the effect is to prevent the feds in Ottowa to collect any tarrif on these products...seems genius, until it turns out their political adversaries not allies are more likely to win the federal election, and then it makes more sense.
My opinion is that these bans are just grandstanding, at the end of the day it is more of a psychological attack than affect any business' bottom line. Drinkers likely will if determinted to drink, just buy whatever. Retailers will sell whatever, possibly be forced to sell more expensive to produce domestic products. US producers will not notice the drop in the bucket that Canadian demand for their products actually are, here we see that the stated purpose of bans/tarrifs have a barely noticeable effect on the supposed stated targets, and therefor unlikely to be persuasive bargaining chips in any potential trade negotiations.
If I had to wager, I would say they are grandstanding along these lines, to avoid having any actual impact with more damaging thus REALLY controversial AND consequential decesions, in effect matching Trumps posturing, with their own watered down posturing, and nobody is discussing anything of substantial impact, except on annoyance to consumers' ability to choose what they like or if they would like to boycot or not.

I see the problem. You're attempting to view things through common sense.vmkkhhotmailcom wrote: ↑Mar 10th, 2025, 12:48 pm Odly, if the feds intend to tarrif (=tax) us and the province decides not outlaw (why?) then the effect is to prevent the feds in Ottowa to collect any tarrif on these products...seems genius, until it turns out their political adversaries not allies are more likely to win the federal election, and then it makes more sense.
And, that just plain won't work.
Obviously, if the feds tariff certain U.S. liquor, it would make NO SENSE for a province to then ban its sale.
And, that's why it was done.
