A good move. I always though that the Gripens were a better deal for Canada.
Then perhaps start exploring the options for Tempest fighters down the road, with Canadian manufacture options....

Musk's threats to disable Starlink for Poland/Ukraine are an indication of a vulnerability in buying F-35s from the US.
Plus the US has been "raiding" UK F-35 parts to support US foreign policy in the middle east and it seems like the UK has no control on that. That has other sovereignty implications.

Single engine seems like a bad idea for Canada. Our geography with vast areas of uninhabited terrain requires twin engine fighters. If one engine fails you will still be able to return instead of crashing.

Cancel USA deal. Buy the fighters from Sweden. Time for Canada to revamp/sever ties with the USA. They can not envision anything beyond the Gulf of Mexico, Pacific, Atlantic and the 49th parallel.
