Because it is canadian history from 300 years ago. That is very interesting to many people. If you know how to use your imagination.

Kind of sad losing Canadian history/ identity . The Bay was too expensive anyway.

Castanet isnt your personal news feed. It has stories that are of interest to a broad range of people. If you are not interested in a story, dont read it.

Probably would have been different if it had remained a Canadian owned company throughout its long history.

It's been coming for a long time. I don't even think of the Bay when I decide to go shopping. Very sad. Time will tell if they can survive with just six stores.

Great Canadian company for a long time! Very expensive to shop there though! Whoever was in charge of the Bays finances is a fool! How do you go almost a billion dollars in debt before changing your business model! Must be a liberal lol

Probably because those stores are profitable while the others are not.

It is inevitable that the Bay is closing in Vernon and that will leave a big hole in the Village Green Mall. We all know the community is already cash strapped to build the Active Living Centre and the Cultural Centre.

The RCMP have been constantly complaining about their lack of space downtown. How about moving the RCMP to take over the BAY space. It would be easy to create internal walls for the offices and much cheaper than building them a multimillion dollar building on some other expensive land.

There is no need to be downtown as it is only 5 minutes away should they be needed. Lots of parking with easy access to all areas of Vernon.

They lost out on taking the old Canadian Tire building so jump on the chance at the Bay.

Oops - out of the box thinking.
