Shouldn't the money from the kin race track reserve go towards the now defunked race track instead of Kal tire place? If we had a winning team, more people would go to games, which means more money for the arena.

Back in 2021, Council was still debating what to do with the FortisBC legacy fund which was then sitting at $12.8M.
AT THAT TIME it was reported that the City had already been dipping into the fund: "Nearly $2.5 million has been expended from the reserve for items ranging from Hurlburt Park phase one to partially funding the Pickle Ball enclosure at Marshall fields."
By the end of June 2021, Council had decided to assign $2M for the RCMP new building feasibility study (or was that a renovations study?) while leaving $10M for the development of KRAP (A for Athletic) that was then renamed the KRTAP.
Now we are dropping the "A" as it's too expensive so KRP it will be!
Is $4 million enough to build a park these days, Councillor Guy? A park that size? How passive are we talking? Total cost for Civic Memorial Park despite touted as on budget was over $3.5M.
I won't be holding my breath, this crew cannot even bother to provide enough budget to open the gates at Lakeshore Park - only one more week till this lovely park finally opens! How much would it cost to open and close a park gate every day? Meanwhile over at Carlson Park, no closures of the fossil-fuel sponsored parking lot - which appears to be strangely lacking bike racks??? Why am I not surprised?![:haha: [icon_lol2.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_lol2.gif)

Remember when the B.C. government took the monies from EI and put it into general revenue ? That was the guy who flew to Hawaii and fell in the punch! ...... zero accountability... Unless you get heavy handed with your expense account. Then you are run out of town !!
These folks are all the same. So easy to spend other peoples money .

You should all stop what your doing and build an overpass on 30th Avenue over the highway downtown vernon.your downtown core business will probably double in 24 months.you will attract alot of new investment to downtown vernon.but most importantly will take a Lott of stress and anxiety of the children and families who have to cross the street.build it and they will come.your currently working on 25 projects that have extreme low priority to that saftey overpass.love you vernon.take care.mr.ty.watts.

Finally, a councilor with some common sense. Vernon has been on a spending spree lately. It would be OK if it was for infrastructure like water, sewer, roads, etc., but they keep approving spending on parks, arenas, and art galleries. Taxpayers are struggling to make end meet and the council is burning thru cash on fluff and stuff.

Robbing peter to pay paul, using allocated money like their own personal piggy bank for pet projects should be illegal.
