Can't blame the the companies that hire foreign workers for wanting to keep some of the extravagant wages and benefits they have to pay unions !

And what "cushy" jobs would those be?
Please, do share what you believe a non "extravagant" wage is acceptable to you? I am quite sure that you are very well versed in the industry and its wage structure to elaborate an educated conclusion.Rotjeknotje wrote: ↑Apr 14th, 2025, 5:48 pm Can't blame the the companies that hire foreign workers for wanting to keep some of the extravagant wages and benefits they have to pay unions !

There is something rotten when 15 per cent of the workers on BC Ferries vessels are foreign workers. I think there is some abuse of the foreign worker program happening. And complain all you want about the union: the captain who runs a ship makes 70 - 135k, where as an executive makes 170 - 600k. Who has the extravagant wages?

If these are union positions don’t they get paid the same? Is this a great example of increased immigration or are younger BC residents not wanting to work in these union jobs? I also would suspect business taking advantage of government handouts to lessen their payroll costs.

Unions: "We must protect our exorbitant wages and benefits from being diluted at any cost!"
