It's not really fair to local motel owners and other tourism operators to call shelter/supportive housing "motels." It is inaccurate and gives actual local motels a bad name.

Why is this even making the news ? This is normal typical everyday drug fuelled behaviour.

Point taken! Perhaps these units could be called "aparthotels" instead? (Q.: "What is an aparthotel?" It appears this possibly happened at the Hospitality Inn. If that's the case then it's still a legitimate motel. I don't think it's been turned into supportive housing yet.
