Did anybody know this bill was coming? It might not be so bad if the water was even safe to drink.

Well, I, for one, appreciate that we were reminded at least annually that this bill would come up, five years after it was vaguely mentioned initially.

This is yet another example of the vague and ambiguous nature of the business practices of this municipality.
The original story states :
The bylaw will allow the nearly 8,300 future users of the Rose Valley plant to either pay an up-front lump sun payment of $2,815, or an additional $34 a year, on top of the $116 property owners currently pay, over the next 25 years. Both options don't kick in until 2022.
I am having a hard time understanding the logistics and the math behind this repayment plan. Have we as citizens been paying the $116 since 2022 as the story indicates ? If so, how then does the sum amount proposed come into existence.
I feel this Council needs to place this matter into abeyance until a fully transparent review is completed. Once that is done, a move forward with more than the two imposed options ought to be arranged. Giving the citizens a one month timeline to choose either option is as abhorrent as the water that comes from this plant.

Yes, I recall being sent a notice. What I'm wondering is, since the water rates/ utility billing has gone up about 400% in the last few years, where does THAT money go, if not for the new disaster of a "water plant"??

What a train wreck.. The municipal taxpayers deserve an explanation when this water plant is to be paid for... this is not my first rodeo of owning a property. I have owned properties in Calgary.. Vancouver .. and now West Kelowna.. this water bill takes first prize in taxes on a homeowner... shame on council..

The price we are paying for the incompetence of this Mayor and council has to end with the next election!

Since 2018 water usage cost has gone up by 50% and quarterly chage has gone up by 85%.
Why are we being told that we now have to start paying for the new plant, if these enormous increases weren't even covering it.

The spending of this council knows no end,,,,Unfortunately this has been the trend for along time. Voting in a new council doesnt necessarily mean taxes wll get better...

Yearly pension increase doesn’t come close to covering it.

We have had tremendous increases on our water bill for years and STILL the water that comes out of our tap is not even drinkable and at times unusable for anything! What is it we are actually paying for?
Add to that the huge property tax increases year after year for one excuse or another, it is too much!!! Yet, the city always has the budget for their enormous pay increases, making them a little out of touch with reality. Nice that they can guarantee their own wage and raises while many of us don't have that luxury. I don't know about the rest of you but I sure don't have a money tree in my back yard!

Mayor and council should be ashamed! If we weren't constantly on boil water advisories or the water actually came out of the taps clear I wouldn't have a problem paying slightly more on my taxes but this project went wildly over budget and we still have *bleep* water. Give your heads a shake council, it's time everyone on the West Kelowna City Council found new jobs!
