I suspect you mean raw logs. Some do already. BC does have a process for exporting logs, primarily those harvested from the coast. There are species not allowed to be exported in raw log form, such as yellow cedar, red cedar and high grade Douglas Fir. The coastal mills have as much timber as required and what is considered excess may be put up for auction and if no reasonable bids are received, they can be exported.
Hauling logs from the coast to the interior is cost prohibitive, however red cedar is moved to Revelstoke as it has the value to cover the trucking costs, other species, not so much.
It's not the raw logs that concern me so much, it's the American way of doing business when competition threatens their operations in the States. Buy the company and then shut the Canadian operation down, move the valuable equipment south and sell the land.
