Glad the bear is getting a second chance! It's not the bear's fault some humans aren't being responsible when it comes to their garbage. P's me off that any bear gets put down instead of relocation.

Hopefully this Bear stays away, they will probably tag it before setting it free in back country. If it comes back, it may not get a third chance.

So the bear was spotted and called in, first thing in the morning, Downtown Kelowna. BC conservation responded in the afternoon, something wrong here I think.

Oh good, Im glad they will give the bear a chance.
If this bear had of been in a less populated area, it would be dead. the only thing that saved this bear is that they did not want to take it out in front of a whole bunch of people.
And why did it take HOURS to respond? Has this just become the nature of government depts? Take hours to respond, even if it is a bear in a downtown area??
Its like the forest fires, why the hell does it take government so damn long to respond? To anything?? Unles its money related.

I suspect Conservation officers were patrolling the backcountry, were vast majority of their hours are spent. Not downtown of a city.

Really? Think about it for a minute.

As Gordon mentioned there are no Conservation Officers sitting in coffee shops downtown Kelowna just waiting for a call about a Bear in a populated area.

The only thing wrong is your assertion that the Conservation Officers should be sitting by the phone waiting for a wildlife conflict call.

BC has the fewest Conservation Officers per square kilometer in North America. The fact that they were able to get to the site from wherever they were patrolling out in the backcountry within hours reflects a great effort on their part.

If you have such an issue with it, I suggest you call premier David Eby and tell the jackass to fund our Conservation Officer Service properly instead of cutting their budget year after year.

Not that it will do any good but maybe a few thousand calls would work.

Seems like so many different areas are understaffed and underfunded considering how heavily taxed we are.

Somehow it doesn't add up. Where is it all going?
